Adriel Hampton is VP of Community at NationBuilder, a software platform for organizing, and founder of the Gov 2.0 Radio podcast. He is a professional speaker and advises governments, politicians, NGOs and businesses on social media and technology innovation. He is also an organizer for various civic tech events.
Adriel is a passionate advocate for harnessing emerging technologies to make government more effective, collaborative and transparent. The Berkeley-educated communicator is an early Gov 2.0 adopter and serves as a regular host of the popular public interest podcast Gov 2.0 Radio, which has featured O’Reilly Media founder Tim O’Reilly, New York Senate CIO Andrew Hoppin, State Department social media expert Lovisa Williams, Craigslist.com founder Craig Newmark, and EPA Web communications director Jeffrey Levy.
From 2005 to 2011, Adriel worked as an investigator for the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office. He brought the office into the Web 2.0 world in early 2009, launching the Twitter account and growing it to more than 5,500 followers. Adriel also launched the City Attorney’s official Flickr account. He continues to advise City Attorney Dennis Herrera on social media and technological innovation.
